An introduction to spiritual formation
The Practicing the Way Course features eight sessions of teaching, guided conversation, and spiritual exercises designed to lay a foundation for lifelong apprenticeship to Jesus. The study starts on Wednesday, August 27, and ends on Wednesday, October 29, with breaks on September 17 (New Wineskins Mission Conference) and October 8 (fall break).
The format for our 8-week study will be:
- 5:45-6:30pm Dinner (suggested donation is $5/person or $10 max/family)
- 6:30-7:30pm Study (separate breakouts for adults, youth, and children)
What to Expect
Dinner
Trinity's community groups are taking the lead in providing the meal each week for our Wednesday Night series. If you are not a member of a community group but would be interested in helping to set up, prepare food, or clean up, email Melanie or give her a call at (229) 228-0390 and she will help you get on the schedule.
Children will eat with their parents until they are dismissed for their program at 6:20pm.
Study
Over eight sessions, you’ll form a foundational understanding of intentional spiritual formation. We’ll explore how to follow Jesus in our busy, distracted, and increasingly secular culture. Each 30-minute session is comprised of teachings, guided discussion, tutorials, and voices from experts.
Participants will receive a handout each week designed to help you practice, reflect, and converse in community. You'll find helpful supports like:
- Tips to get the most out of the course
- Exercises to help put each session into practice
- Additional prayers and liturgies
We also have a limited number of copies of Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer that are available for purchase ($14) but the book is not required.
Youth & Children
Youth will go through an adapted version of The Practicing the Way Course.
Children will be exploring the stories of people from the Bible not covered in Godly Play, including Ruth, Esther, David, and Jonah, among others.
Nursery care will be available for children ages 3 and under from 6:20 to 7:30pm.
